We all desire toned, shapely thighs with little fat, but this can be an elusive goal for most of us regardless of our diet and exercise plans. Problems arise when we start developing fat deposits or loose, sagging skin that rubs when we walk, or even pushes us into the next size up in clothing. These issues also often affect patients who have undergone massive weight loss as a result of bariatric surgery or diligent diet and exercise. For such problems, a thigh lift can be helpful.
The procedure is a combination of liposuction of the outer and inner thighs, and removal of excess sagging skin, typically on the inner thigh. The exact components are adjusted to your goals, and individual needs as determined by your thigh shape, and amount of excess tissue in each area.
Dr. Doolabh will plan your incisions before the surgery to make them as inconspicuous as possible, usually centered along the axis of your thigh, like a pant seam. All tissues reduced lie above all muscles, major nerves and vessels.
A thigh lift can take from three-to-four hours to perform, depending on your particular requirements. The results include more slender thigh contours and reduced excess or hanging thigh skin.
After surgery, you’ll be dressed and wrapped with a snug, comfortable compression garment to help control swelling and allow your skin shrink to fit your new contour, for 4-6 weeks. Most patients with light job duties should be able to return to work within two weeks, with some limited activity at this time.
